There I was getting ready to move and was about to pick the cheapest moving
company
that I received an online quote from. Fortunately, some high pressure tactics
from an opposing cheap company made me reevaluate my initial determination.
I read up on the law. I spread sheeted the obvious choices. I read the reviews.
I checked the BBB and how long each company was in business (and whether they
just renamed their business). Ultimately, it came down between Graebel
Van Lines and another company. I was getting smart by this point.
I played dumb to see if they would cite the laws they were required to tell
me about my rights and responsibilities and theirs. Both Graebel Van
Lines and
the other company did that. Admittedly, the Graebel Van Lines quote
was far better. 2200 lbs for $1547. But here's the kicker: it was the only
company who provided me with a Not-to-Exceed quote and offered reimbursement
for any weight I didn't use! And when I needed them to be there a day earlier
than originally agreed. No Problem!
The driver was able to schedule me in. Total
price on delivery? $947.35. I couldn't have rented a U-haul and flown someone
in to help me for that price. Another great thing I found during my research.
Unlike other moving companies, Graebel Van Lines isn't franchised. As a result, I had
the knowledge that if something went wrong, I had a doorstep to stomp on and
where ever that doorstep was, it was the right one. Moving is horrible and
then when you find out about companies that hold your stuff hostage, it is
downright scary. I would recommend Graebel Van Lines hands down. They were absolutely
stellar to work with.
