| | USA Eagle Movers were contracted to remove furniture. I was assured by the
manager that the company was professional and that the workers were excellent.
I then proceeded to order a crew of 9 men and 3 large moving trucks at a rate
of $300/hr to move my furniture. When I arrived at the site to see how they
were moving 2 men were sitting in the truck doing nothing and the rest were
moving at a snail's pace. I had also hired a crew of 8 and rented an additional
3 trucks to help them move the furniture.
USA Eagle Movers had the easiest task as my workers had already moved all
the furniture from the floors above and placed each item by category in one
central location. All the movers had to do was getting their dollies and take
each item one by one. After the six trucks were loaded the movers had to follow
my crew and their trucks. But instead they took an alternative route and they
were delayed coming to my site by more than hour. One of the trucks had arrived
a little after an hour and 3 men were sitting in the truck talking on their
cell phones and doing absolutely nothing until the other two trucks arrived
30 minutes later. Also, one of the crew had approached my project manager and
told him were required to buy lunches for the moving company's crew. This was
not stated in the contract. I was ready to terminate the contract and just
pay the movers for work that was done up until then. Their manager had persuaded
me not to cancel the contract because they would deduct the 3 hours that was
on the bill as a credit. So I decided to continue to use them.
The next day, I had the crew report to the hotel site and I decided that their
work was not satisfactory so I informed the foreman that I wanted all work
to cease and to give me the bill. They did not deduct the 3 hours that was
promised to me by their manager and their manager was mysteriously absent from
the phones. (prior to this I could call the manager at any time of the day
or night and he'd answer) Finally, the foreman got into a verbal confrontation
with me and then proceeded to call the police. The police of course sided with
me, and told them that this was a civil matter and not a police matter. Finally
we got in touch with the manager and he conveniently had forgotten the conversation
we had the day before and he told his foreman to deduct 1 hour from the bill.
Of course I was livid, and did not accept this settlement so I paid the bill
in full and I will attempt to regain the $900 that the company had promised
to credit me. I feel that any company who blatantly lie to their customers
is not a company to trust and I hope that none of you make the same mistake
I have made in employing USA Eagle Movers.
