| | This "company" insists on payment in cash. I was told that they had insurance in case they damaged my furniture. They damaged many items and then gave me a "receipt" and said that I had 10 days to file a claim. I called to file and they hung up on me! Estimated Quote Before the move: 5 hours (approximately $600)
Time charged for the move: 7 hours plus an 8% fuel fee that was not previously
disclosed (approximately $800)
The day of the move, the movers were more than 2 hours late. When I called the
office to ask about the increase in cost, I was treated with complete disrespect.
When I asked for the name of the owner of the company, the manager gave me the
name of a cartoon
character. Because they were charging me much more than I had
anticipated, I had to run to an ATM to get more cash. I was gone for almost an
hour. When I returned, I found that they had moved approximately 8 boxes and
a couch in my absence. That was it. Although there were 2 movers, only one of
them moved any boxes or furniture. The other remained in the truck. Needless
to say, loading the truck took a very long time. I followed the moving
truck to the destination. During the drive, they stopped twice for 20 minutes each
time. After the movers left, I found that they broke some of my furniture (e.g.,
the front of some drawers were torn off, and they had wrapped tape around the
dresser to keep them from falling off) and damaged much more (e.g., bookcases
and end tables with knicks).
