Subject: Tried Suing, Company Has False Address!

Quote ID :DOT# 1583631 MC# 58
Move Origin :Prescott, AZ
Move Destination :Boise, ID
Initial Estimate :$1,750.00
Final Cost :$4,600.00
Star Van Lines brought a truck that was too small and more than doubled the estimated price. They wouldn't give a locked in price until the truck was half loaded. When they gave the price we told them that wasn't what was agreed on and we would go with another company. They said it would be around $1700 to unload the truck leaving us in a serious situation with money and time. They were already late to begin with by 4 to 5 hours. They charged for boxing things that their office didn't say needed to be boxed, such as the TVs. I watched one of the movers drop and shatter our glass-top coffee table and when I asked him what was going to be done he said," just file a claim and they will take care of it". They crammed everything into the van, forcing us to leave items behind which weren't included in the estimated amount for the "loss and damage" claim. They barely fit most of the items and pushed on the door to close the truck up. After given the original estimate on the phone, Lisa (at the office), mentioned that the driver would meet us at our destination on Tuesday February 19, 2008. The movers, themselves, said that it would take approx 3-5 days and it would be an extra $800 to shorten the time to 2-3 days for a straight-shot move. The moving company goes by cuft for their truck size. Not having delt with cuft in prior moving situations, we mentioned on the phone that we knew for sure we needed a 24' truck. The original quote of $1,750 was for one half of the truck, but the final quote turned out to be $4,600 (equalling more than 1full truck load/more than double the cost). The movers finally showed up on February 21, 2008 at 10:00pm...waking up our neighbors. As the movers unloaded, we noticed a lot of our items were chipped, scratched, bent and severely damaged. We began taking pictures of all of the damaged items as brought into the apartment. When we asked the man who appeared to be in charge about the damages, his response was "These things happen" and reminded us to file a claim and said, "They'll take care of you." We filed a claim on March 05, 2008, for most of the damaged/lost items (not including what was left behind in AZ) and provided full detail of the items, the damage that was done and included photos. Although the total estimated damage calculated to be approx $2,900, the claims department only offered us $207. Your Complaint ID is 100027496 (Attorney General of CA) March 04, 2008

Subject: Terrorists Hiding behind Moving Company

Quote ID :R39495
Move Origin :West Covina, CA
Move Destination :Clarkston, MI
Initial Estimate :$4,036.00
Final Cost :$4,596.00

These people need to be looked at. My estimate was done by AL (the owner) personally. They were to deliver to Michigan from California on May 1st. I had written the date on my receipt on day of pick up. Then followed up 2 weeks prior via phone & email with Lisa...who after my delivery disappeared. They didn't deliver until 5/14. The delivery guy (Uzi was his name) is friends with the owner. He tried to extort $700 for that rig that couldn't fit on my street. Nobody told me and they wouldn't deliver unless I paid them the cash first. I ended up with broken furniture, stolen items...I say stolen as I spoke to the owner and he stated he had my items and was shipping to me on June 21st. I'm still waiting. The extra funds I paid were not signed off and now nobody picks up the phone when you call. I even called UZI and left voicemails to get a hold of Al. No luck.

Subject: WORSE THAN POOR SERVICE

Quote ID :256563
Move Origin :Vancouver, WA
Move Destination :Indianapolis, IN
Initial Estimate :$3,107.00
Final Cost :$3,109.00

Star Van Lines, falsely represented their services! We had a small amount of furniture and household items I can't imagine if this would have been a huge household moving. We are still waiting on a check (no where near the price of the goods you know 60 cents a pound rule) for the damaged items. It is July 2008 our move was December 2007. The insurance company is as big a joke as the moving company! We experienced some of the same issues that were listed above a day late in arriving, our furniture was driven everywhere around the country transferring from one truck to another to warehouse... one day they stated they were in Iowa the next week it was back in California. Going from Vancouver Washington to Indianapolis Indiana that doesn't make sense. Over the Christmas holiday we had a blown up mattress and two lawn chairs it took four weeks for our furniture to arrive. They picked up November 30th (scheduled November 29th) arrived December 29th. They don't return calls just pass you around to another employee.... Run, run as fast as you can from this unprofessional moving company and all of their employees!

Subject: STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!

Quote ID :W738857
Move Origin :Phoenix, AZ
Move Destination :Denver, CO
Initial Estimate :$5,250.00
Final Cost :$10,000.00

I have just been advised by an attorney on how to get my money back from these CROOKS! If you aren't careful this moving company will rob you of every penny you have. They are the worst business people I have ever dealt with. I came so close to not hiring them, but when SANDY started throwing in "free items" (which weren’t free and ended up doubling my “guaranteed estimate”) and guaranteeing me I wouldn't exceed my $5000 budget, I was sucked in - MAKING THE BIGGEST FINANCIAL MISTAKE I EVER MADE! When these people showed up at my front door with a Penske truck, I took one look at it and told them their truck was too small. They responded by saying they'd call another truck, but refused to tell me how much it would cost. The entire time they loaded my belonging, I continually asked over and over how much more it was going to cost me. They refused to tell me anything, except that they would remain within my quoted estimate. So I called SANDY and she told me to relax and let BORRIS finish packing. AFTER all my stuff was in their truck, they gave me my new cost of $10,000!!! They were literally holding my stuff hostage and wouldn't release it until I paid the balance. They gave me no choice, but to pay. And I'm not even going to go into the treatment of my stuff, which was just as bad as this game they were playing with me. I argued back and forth with SANDY, LISA, and AL. When I got nowhere with them, I became an hysterical mess. Those three people are the worst business dealers ever and they care about nothing but screwing over their customers and holding peoples belonging for ransom. This company caused me terrible anxiety, emotional turmoil and created deep financial hardship for me. Future movers, beware of STAR VAN LINES, AKA: PRIORITY VAN LINES. This company needs to be put out of business.

Subject: The Worst Movers I Have Ever Experienced - Please Help

Quote ID :1074880
Move Origin :Las Vegas, NV
Move Destination :Fairburn, GA
Initial Estimate :$1,300.00
Final Cost :$2,450.00

Move from: Las Vegas, NV to Fairburn, GA
Their price quote was: $1300. I ended up paying: $2450

This is the WORST and the most STRESSFUL move I have ever experienced. I have been angry and in tears talking to these people. If you don't want to be LIED TO, ITEMS TAKEN, EXCESSIVE DAMAGE, MISQUOTED, TOTAL DISREGARD for your concerns from unprofessional movers - please run from this company and anyone affiliated with it. It started by SANDY misquoting price for the move and untruthful about how my furniture was going to be handled, and then LISA took over. I have been trying to get my issues and request reasonably resolved since November 2007. I am still today (5/27/2008) trying to get a reasonable resolution with "LISA" and "AL". I think some other alternative action should be taken against this company. Along with researching other customers that have used them and get their feedback. I am sure I am not alone. I feel violated, totally disrespected, taken advantage of, and hurt. My crates were gone rambled through, VALUABLE ITEMS TAKEN, and then thrown into a box (I guess what they didn't want). I was told I could see the space (cubic feet) that my furniture occupied when movers arrived, but when the movers got to Georgia they said no because furniture had been moved around, therefore I couldn’t get it. Please let as many people know about this awful company and experience. They are causing me stress beyond belief, along with numerous calls. THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. IT IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! This is not how you do business.

Subject: BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD

This people are extremely rude, bad business, over priced and not way to supposedly "contact" the owner. These people "Lisa" and "Ricky" if they even work there. One, Lisa, is the so called "manager" and was very rude and kept on referring to the contract. They basically hold your belongings as ransom and don't release them until payment is given and not to mention they specifically ask for "CASH".

Subject: My bill went from 1750 to 2700

I am on my way to seeing an attorney so I can sue Star Van lines. They are the most unscrupulous bunch of liars I have ever seen.
At every step of the moving process, they kept adding on charge after bogus charge, sending no paperwork (online) and no proof of the weight of my load. My bill went from 1750 to 2700.!! My boyfriend and I told them that an 18-wheeler was not allowed on the road where our house is and "Lisa" assured us that a smaller van would be discharged to our home. Another lie! We had to meet the driver (who by the way, doesn't work for Star Van lines and had zero idea about what was going on) in a parking lot and put our things in a truck that we had to unload at the house in 10 degree weather! On top of this, Lisa said this would require an additional charge of 70/hr to the driver who was going to be unloading into our truck!!!! Wasn't he going to be doing that anyway? "Lisa" claimed we never told her about the 18-wheeler issue! She lied right to our faces. There is so much more, but I cannot continue as I am getting too upset.

Subject: Horrible Service

Star Van Lines is the worst moving company I have dealt with EVER! I moved from Las Vegas, NV to Ozark, AL and it has been the worst experience I have ever gone through. When the movers showed up at our Las Vegas address, a day late, they arrived in a Enterprise Rent-A-Truck and were not very professional at all. They lied to us about the reason they were late. I watched as they packed their "truck" and saw them dropping our belongings and damaging them before they even left. When they finally came to deliver, most of our belongings were damaged, opened and gone through, and many high value items never even arrived. When I would call to get any customer service at all, they would tell me that they would call me back and never would. I would have to chase them down and still could barely get a straight answer.

Not only was the service extremely bad, they overcharged us saying that the initial quote (why we booked the service in the first place) was no good and that it would really be costing us about 3 TIMES what they said it would. All in all, this is the worst moving company I have ever dealt with in my life. To anyone thinking about using this company, I would strongly recommend that you rethink your decision. Hopefully I can save a few people the heart ache that my family has gone through in the past month.

Subject: Rip off company

They had very lousy service. They lost or broke many of my expensive items including my 55" TV. This company is reckless and careless with customer’s possessions. They low ball the initial quote only to double it once all my items were locked and in their possession. The driver tried to steel several of my expensive items. The company has stolen a large theater speaker of mine and keeps giving me lame excuses claiming that I'll receive it any day.

Subject: Star Van Lines

I would like to thank Star Van Lines for such an awesome move and for taking care of my things. Your staff and movers were so professional and the moving quote they gave me was great. Star Van Lines moved me from Tucson, AZ to Las Vegas, NV and the movers they sent me took great care of my things. The thing that I loved the most about Star Van Lines was of their honesty and that when they said something they meant it. They said my things would take four days to get to me and it did and better yet nothing was broken and everything was in order. I would really like to thank Star Van Lines for a great moving crew and for the superior service that you provided me.

Thanks Again,

Angela T.
