| We moved our whole household from Illinois to California with Relocation Van
Lines. It was a nightmare. They promised us that everything would arrive within
5-7 days. It took almost a month during that time we kept calling Relocation
Van Lines without ever getting any information about the whereabouts of our
household. We paid for the reassembling of our furniture, but the crew that
delivered it refused to do that and it was obvious why. Everything was broken
and in pieces, boxes where missing, most of the boxes were wet, some boxes
had been unpacked and the contents thrown (in between pieces of furniture)
into different boxes. The steel frame of our Phil & Ted E3 Stroller was
completely bent and so was the frame of my husbands bike, a desk was broken
in the middle....The damage did cost us about 5000$.

| I shall start by stating that my items came up 1000lbs less than estimated.
I did not trust them and followed them to the weigh station. This moving company
is very dishonest and uses illegal practices to gain extra money and cheat
customers. I decided to go with this company because the initial moving company
that I hired did not show up. After loading the truck they told me that I owed
$377 for additional packing supplies (56 rolls of tape, 5 boxes, and 2 mattress
covers). I told them that that was false because I had supplied my own mattress
covers and that all of my belongings were already packed in boxes and taped
up. I had bought extra supplies prior to the move (boxes, bubble wrap, shrink-wrap,
mattress covers, etc.). They stated that they would use my supplies for no
additional charge. I did agree to use 2 boxes to cover my china cabinet, but
not 5! They did not use 5 boxes. I watched them the whole time. At the conclusion
of the move they stated that they used these large amounts of their supplies.
When I asked them to show me the empty 56 rolls of tape, they refused and said
that I had thrown the tape rolls away and that I was obligated to pay. I counted
22 rolls of tape used. Even this was an exorbitant amount used for items already
in boxes. I was appalled because the sales person and my contract stated that
blanket wrapping of all furniture was included. I was also upset because they
lied about quantity of the supplies used. If they wanted a large tip, they
should have just worked hard and be honest workers. When I complained, the
movers called their bosses, Valter and Jill, who then threatened to hold my
furniture hostage and stated that if I did not pay, they would sell my furniture
at auction. Feeling pressured and like I had no choice, I agreed to move. However
after the movers left, I looked at the requisition and noticed that the movers
changed the cost of the moving supplies to help them get to that $377 total.
For example, the price list stated that I used 5 boxes at $15 each, well instead
of charging me $75, they wrote the final charge of $125. They also changed
the price of the tape, by adding an extra $20 to make the total $196. Not only
did they exaggerate the amount of packing supplies and moving
boxes, but they
also falsified and changed the costs of the supplies. This is totally illegal!
When I called to talk about the changed prices, I was told that they had given
me a break and that they could have charged me labor of $7 per item, which
would have cost me more. They refused to correct the amount charged for the
packing supplies. My items were finally delivered to Georgia, but with problems.
The moving company lost the large wooden side rails to my cherry wood sleigh
bed. So I cannot use my bed and my mattress is now on the floor. In addition,
they broke the glass tabletop to my coffee table. I have called several times
a day for the past week and sent emails to locate my side rails and inquire
about using the insurance to replace my counter top and side rails. But they
do not answer my calls or emails. Relocation Van Lines, Inc.’s
service is deplorable. They do not care about the customer and will not call
back after they got your money. They are very dishonest and should not be in
business. |

| Company Response | | | Posted by: Cory Allen - 05/12/2008 Subject: Relocation Van Lines Moving Review
| | We hired Relocation Van Lines to pack and move our belongings out of state.
In order to not have any surprise charges, we had a representative from the
company come to our home to look at our belongings to provide an accurate estimate
for the move. The movers showed up as contracted on the move date and began
to pack our belongings. All of this seemed to be fine. However, the day after
they picked up our stuff, they called to say the move would be double what
they had quoted us! They said our stuff weighed a lot more than they had figured...
however, that is why we had their rep come out to give us an “in person quote”.
This was annoying, but it only gets worse. They had told us our belongings
would arrive in 5 to 7 days at our new home. Everything finally showed up 11
days later. Again, annoying, but not the end of the world. Then, when they
started unloading the truck (after we paid them twice what they quoted - in
cash - or else they wouldn't unload the truck), it was obvious that most of
our stuff had been damaged. Our furniture had clearly not been packed well.
3 of the 5 legs had been broken off our dresser, 1 leg broken on our couch,
1 leg broken in half off an antique end table... you get the picture. PLUS,
our lamps which we had paid them to pack had just been put in the back of the
moving truck - not in boxes - not wrapped in blankets - just sat out in the
truck. So, obviously all of them were damaged. Again, the damage was quite
annoying, but not the end of the world. The annoyance turned to complete anger
as we opened our boxes. It only took a few boxes to realize that we had been
outright robbed. They had indeed packed us, but they had stolen items from
every room in our house. They took a camcorder, digital camera, printer, 2
laptop computers, Xbox, silverware, etc. You get the picture. Their customer
service did nothing other than to tell me that I could speak to their attorney,
if I wanted. To date, they have not offered a refund or settlement (this is
3 months after the move at this point).

| | I was quoted over the phone $400. When they showed up at my storage unit they told me it would be a little more than $400. The next day when the showed up to drop off my stuff at our new home I was told I had to pay them $1200 in order to get my stuff. Blackmail!!

| | The company charged me $600 extra for wrapping my furniture, even though furniture
assembly and disassembly was supposed to be free.
Then they delivered the stuff after 13 days, even though I had told them I was
ready for delivery the next day. To compensate, they were willing to pay $20!
Then, when the stuff finally came, they had lost a box and after 30 days of my
filing a claim, they came back with a $15 refund!

| | Relocation Van Lines packed all things in boxes and moved all our furniture with blankets to cover them. The movers moved us from within Illinois and unfortunately for the movers it was raining that day. The movers to my surprise still managed to move all our things with any getting any kind of damage. I was very satisfied with the service and the movers for their hardwork and commitment to their job. Thank you Relocation Van Lines for everything!
