| | Move Origin : | Oakland County, MI | | Move Destination : | Orange County, CA | | Initial Estimate : | $3,500.00 | | Final Cost : | $7,840.00 |
| | Go to YouTube and hear how bad these people are. They're totally dishonest. Numerous complaints are pending with DOT. They will take your property "hostage" (a legal term in DOT language), extorting more money from you. Nothing they say is true. | Company Response | | | Posted by: Jason Chang - 08/01/2008 Subject: Bait and switch
| | Quote ID : | 37592148425 | | Move Origin : | Rochester, NY | | Move Destination : | New Haven, CT | | Initial Estimate : | $2,636.00 | | Final Cost : | $4,621.00 |
| | The above $ figure says it all. It's the old bait and switch. They gave me one
written estimate then they packed and loaded everything, then gave me the real
estimate which was more than twice the original estimate. They threatened that
they can't deliver on time and don't know when they can deliver unless I pay
everything so I had to. BTW, the initial estimated weight came was GREATER than
the actual freight weight, meaning I should have paid less than the initial estimate
if anything. | Company Response | | | Posted by: Bruce hendrix - 05/15/2008 Subject: Horrible Service
| | I hired Reliance Relocation to move several of my personal belongings from
Fort Wayne, IN to Las Vegas, NV. The company seemed very organized and my representative,
Henry, seemed to be very on top of my needs and was excellent communicating
with me during the planning stages of my move. I provided Henry with a detailed
manifest of all my items including exact weights on each item. We would be
moving just slightly less than 2000lbs. All was running smoothly until 3 days
before the scheduled pick up. I was called from Ollie the Dispatcher at Reliance
asking first if they could move the pick up date from March 31st to March 28th – I
agreed. I get another call from the truck driver on Monday March 24th asking
if they can move up the date again - this time to Thursday March 27th – I
agreed. I get a call on Wednesday March 26th from the truck driver telling
me that he was in Fort Wayne and on the way over to my location – This
was 24 hours earlier than I had agreed and I was in no way ready for the movers
at this point. I was actually at the moving store picking up boxes when he
called and most of my items were not yet boxed up. I called Reliance and spoke
to Ollie and Henry concerning this matter and they agreed to allow me an additional
250lbs of cargo at no charge in exchange for me busting my butt and having
to hire packers in order to getting all my belongings packed up in a couple
hours. Reliance acknowledge that the shipment would be delivered no earlier
than Thursday March 3 – they agreed to this and guaranteed me all would
be fine - Little did I know it was going to get much worse… The Reliance
truck arrived at my location several hours later than was planned. I was quite
surprised to see a Super Mover Truck. The condition of the truck was a dead
giveaway that there were problems to come. The truck was completely beat up,
overloaded and the movers looked like they had been released from either prison
or the drug unit only hours before they arrived. My first response was to not
let these guys touch any of my belonging. Unfortunately for me, I had no other
choice than to let these guys have at my belongings. The space on the truck
that was designated for my shipment was miserably small and there was no way
all of the items I planned on taking were going to fit. The driver insisted
they could package it all. When the movers were packing of the truck I was
very concerned about the safety of my belongings. Several items were slammed
around, flipped every which way, and shoved into the too small of a space on
the truck. After an hour of packing, there were several items still not loaded
on the truck and there was no more space. The movers actually strapped several
of my belongings unprotected to the BACK OF THEIR TRUCK! They mixed my items
in with other areas of the truck and other deliveries. I had to leave the additional
250 lbs of items that I planned on taking. The driver provided me with the
paperwork and assured me that the credit card payment was charged and all was
good. He gave me a weight slip and told me that he was off to a weight station
and would be calling me in an hour with the new weight. Away he went with my
goods and I preyed that I would see my items in good condition again some day.
I never heard back from the driver even though I left him several messages
checking the progress…..I was called on Tuesday April 1 asking when
they could deliver the items in Vegas – I was still in Indiana – They
completely ignored all of my time schedules. The day of scheduled delivery
arrived and alas nothing – Several phone calls to Reliance went un-returned
and finally I got a call late in the evening from Reliance’s accounting
departments. It seems that my salesman and their accounting staff had a lapse
of attention to details concerning payment of my shipment. I had informed Reliance
that I would be paying for this shipment by credit card from the first conversations.
They had no record of this and they required several release forms and credit
card authorization forms filled out. Unfortunately, for me they had my computer,
printer, fax, and copier on their truck. I ended up having to go to Kinkos
to retrieve the needed paperwork and fax replies to Reliance the morning of
scheduled delivery in order to straighten up this mess and get my shipment… The
items arrived finally arrived 24 hours late and most items were in OK condition.
The delivery staff was quite forward about receiving a tip – So $60 later
- all my items were unload and finding their place in my new home – upon
inspection I found damage to two furniture item and that I am missing one complete
box of goods I once again called Reliance concerning the lost item and to discuss
the final bill. I was entitled to more weight than their truck was able to
hold and I was certainly not willing their driver to strap my couch to the
roof of their truck .I spoke to several reps at Reliance and was told on several
occasions that they knew the location of the missing box and that a rep would
be calling me right back. I was also promised a call concerning the additional
250lbs of cargo that there was no room for. I was promised calls back from
them on 13 difference occasions and they never once returned a call to me.
Here is a list of the damaged/ lost items.. Item #1 – Living Room Coffee
Table – The top was cracked in two pieces – no repair possible – Value
$300 Item #2 – Living Room Bookcase – They actually load this on
to the back of their truck!! By wrapping it with Visqueen wrap and ratchet
straps – There are several surface abrasions ranging from large gouges
to scratches – Value $600 – repair to the item is unfeasible due
to the depth and severity of the damage Item #3 – Box of items – Box
is labled “A2” and has my name and address on it - Box is a flattened
box containing 6 sheet metal sculptures depicting the SUN, EATH, MOON, JUIPTER,
SATURN, and PLUTO– see picture of box and items enclosed. Value is $1500
for these one of a kind pieces of art. WORST OF THE WORST - there is it in
a nutshell!

| | Reliance moved me just a few days ago. Me and my family experienced a very smooth move not like the one we had a few years ago with another moving company.
I'd recommend Reliance Relocation to anyone who is looking to move. They do a great job.

| | Reliance Relocation really put my mind at rest when I was greeted by the movers. I could tell that the movers were there to do their job and do it right. Reliance Relocation moved me from Atlanta, GA to Gainesville, GA. Reliance Relocation sent me three very reliable movers to move me. All my things were wrapped very nicely and carefully and because of their precautions nothing was damaged. I really liked the honesty of Reliance Relocation and the way everything was handled. Thank you Reliance Relocation for a simple move.
