| | I just read all of the reviews and decided to add mine. When I checked
them out in May 2007. I could not find anything bad about the company, even
checking the BBB. Their pick up was on time but that was the end of anything
going right.
The bill came in 10% higher, which I was told they were allow by law to do. Delivery
was to be in 14 days, Delivery was 7weeks later with every excuse in the book. Items
missing and broken, dinning room table, computer table, and sofa legs. Plus,
when they redelivered the table, the driver would not come to the house, told
us to rent a truck or carry it ourselves, that was even after the President
of the company told him to deliver it to the house. We are still missing
furniture, filed an insurance claim but when checked the phone was disconnected. But
wait that was not all, sofa, bed, chairs had to be thrown out because they
where all bug infected and tries to disinfect did not work. We are not
only out of our moving money but out half of our furniture.
I cannot get any answers on phone calls, I did call a number I had which I
was told was a driver, he told me he quit the company and he believed that
they took the month of December off.
I believe they are still off

| | Hello,
I would like to share my experience with this company to prevent anybody who
is going to deal with them from making this mistake.
I hired this company in July 2007 for moving from Los Angeles CA to Houghton,
MI (Contract R10861), MI. They were nice by phone and promised to deliver everything
in one month.
They came on time for the pickup. However, when all my things were already
in the track their price was doubled. Besides that they required tips as cash
only and non-documented. As result I was not able to attach that amount to
my relocation report for employer. It was just beginning…
After dozens of telephone calls they finally delivered my staff by September
15,2007 instead of August 17,2007 as it was discussed. Their delivery team
is a subject for separate story. Team Leader demonstrated improper behavior.
He required cash for bringing each small furniture piece to the second or third
floor of the house. He demonstrated total technical stupidity and was not able
to assemble elementary parts of the furniture which his colleagues successfully
disassembled in LA. Moreover, when my friend was trying to help him in assembling
he started to demonstrate his ability of badmouthing lexicon and screaming
as psychologically disordered person. I guess he needs significant medical
help and not qualified professionally to work with customers. When I mentioned
that only help which I can provide him may come from local police department
he went to sleep to his track while another team member and my friends were
helping me to recover from this disaster.
As result of this company “service” ,for which by the way I paid
more then $6,000 plus a lot of tips which is difficult to count since each
and every step was cashed , the following damage was made for my things:
- Broken refrigerator,
- Broken printer and other computer equipment
- Mirror for dresser was
just lost and not delivered.
Search of mirror was imitated during couple of moths and finally the owner
of the company mailed me a damage claim form for reimbursement. It is needless
to say that in fact I did not receive a penny as result of claim. Moreover
Ocean to Ocean phones are now disconnected.
I do not recommend anybody to use this company by any means. Moving is difficult
by itself, but irresponsible cheaters from Ocean 2 Ocean can turn it to disaster.
Eugene Levin | Company Response | | | Posted by: Monica Chang - 11/06/2007 Subject: My experience with Ocean to Ocean
| | My experience with Ocean to Ocean continues to be horrible. When I think it
can't get worse, it does. First, let me just give you the facts:
-Delivery was a week late
-Desk was missing
-Tv stand is broken
-One dining table chair is broken
-Trash can for the bedroom is missing
-Shoe rack is missing
-Coffee table is chipped
Customer service is nonexistent. I've tried to talk to the owner who has avoided
and taken zero responsibility of this situation. They tried to charge me extra
fees delivering to Chicago (some restrictions on highway weight limit) but
you can avoid this by using an alternate route. In response to all of the time,
pain, and terrible experience, their response is to refund me $90, which only
covers the elevator fee they were suppose to waive but didn't. They have complete
disregard for customer satisfaction. The sales rep will tell you one thing
and the delivery guy will do whatever he wants. | Company Response | | | Posted by: Jamie Wilson - 08/03/2007 Subject: my experience
| | The furniture was picked up and delivered. However, the truck broke down numerous
times and the date of delivery was changed about 5 times. The driver never knew
how far away he was, I Googled maps to tell him. After changing my delivery date
by one and a half weeks, they asked me to meet them for drop off at 10pm. Please
help me. As it turned out, he was over 6 hours away but was asking me to meet
him in 4 hours. The next morning, I get a call asking for directions to my house.
Turns out he wasn't in my town, although he thought he was. He was 2 hours away.
When I finally met the truck, with my final check in hand, I was told cash only.
They could have told me that two weeks ago. I ran to the bank. The movers sat
and waited, would not lift one finger until I had cash. THEN, the dispatcher
asked me to pay the movers extra to deliver the goods to the apt. Let's just
see if they reimburse me for the few things they broke. | Company Response | | | Posted by: Joanne T. - 07/30/2007 Subject: Ocean to Ocean Van Lines did a Terrific Job!
| | Ocean to Ocean Van Lines moved my family and I from Long Beach, CA to Portland, OR and the move was excellent. The mover that Ocean to Ocean sent us was very professional and very nice during the entire moving process. I got pretty much the best moving from this company and definantly the best customer service. All our furniture was loaded into the truck and the boxes as well. The trucks were so clean and the delivery of the truck with our things came in about five days just like they had promised. I was so satisfied with our move that their also in the process of making arrangements with my mom and dad so they can move closer to us. Thank you so much Ocean to Ocean Van lines and to the movers.
Sincerely,

| | If you are considering using this company for a move, I highly discourage using them for any type of move. I was deceived from the moment I received my initial quote, to the day they completed delivery. I was charged several hundred dollars above my quote, and the majority of my furniture arrived damaged. I am in the process of filing a lawsuit against this company for negligence.

Long Distance Guide
The reputation of a moving company is one of the biggest factors in selecting a mover. Consider the care and effort that movers must apply. Experience and capability should take precedence over price.
Long distance and commercial move charges are based mainly on the weight of your items and the distance they need to be moved. It just makes sense that moving a sparsely furnished four-room house from Atlanta to Baltimore will be cheaper than moving a twenty-room house packed with furniture from Boston to Seattle. Because moving companies have to consolidate a few households' items together into one 18-wheel truck, discounts are always available. Weight is perhaps the biggest determinant of price for a long distance move, here is something you must know:
The weight of your items is actually measured on a scale. Only, the scale is for the truck. Before the move, the weight of the truck without your goods is measured. This is called "empty weight". The scales are usually located at the nearest truck stops or at the moving companies facilities. You are allowed to accompany the driver to the scale during the weigh-in to ensure that everything is in order. Make sure that your mover provides you with an "empty weight" receipt.
In order to avoid additional charges during the move, you must:
Know the layout of your new community or apartment complex.
Know if the area will accommodate huge 18-wheelers.
Know the building restrictions beforehand.
Know about walkway/elevator access.
The moving company will have no knowledge of this information, so it is up to you to provide it to the best of your knowledge.
Long distance services include:
Loading, transportation, and unloading of goods
Padding of all furniture with blankets
binding estimates available
Organized inventory list provided
Up to one month's storage free of charge
Basic replacement valuation protection
Punctual, professional crew for an efficient move
Fully equipped truck
No extra charge for furniture that requires disassembly and re-assembly
