Subject: The BAD nice men at Legacy

Quote ID :1083058
Move Origin :Kennewick, WA
Move Destination :Houston, TX
Initial Estimate :$7,500.00
Final Cost :$8,540.00
I was assured by Tony Uzo we would have an entire truck to ourselves and that the packing process would only take 1 day so we need not worry if we took up more space because the nice bad men at LEGACY VAN LINES wouldn't charge us anything over our quote. When the truck arrived and was loaded it was a different story. I had no choice or time to find a reputable mover. On June 28th the packers showed up one of them was so strung out on pills that she was dropping my stuff on the floor and falling asleep laying over my kitchen counter. I had to have her removed from my home because my children were present and I was scared of what might be stolen. All of my unwrapped furniture was stored on the garage floor while we waited for the truck driver Eddie to show up. I voiced my concerns about the items getting scratched. Eddie arrived 2 days behind schedule. I had tickets to fly out of town with my children and mother the next day not to mention the house had been sold and the new home owners wanted in the morning the truck was being loaded. There were a few minor incidents that took place causing the truck not to leave til 2 days after loading was completed. When our furniture was delivered I was in shock with the damage. Many items were destroyed beyond repair more than a third of all my belongings had some significant damage there were also missing items, 2 sets of celphalone pots and pans as well as a ladder. 2 Boxes that did not belong to me made it into my house as well. 3 dressers, a new TV which was dropped on the floor, end table, sofa table, oak computer desk, book case as well as dishes and many other house hold items were destroyed. Legacy who said they were insured would be able to replace the items. We submitted our claim to Davie so he could help expedite our claim throught the "CLAIM DEPARTMENT" 3 months later and going round and round with David Levine, Tony Uzo(David and Lonnie's brother in law), and David's brother Lonnie I still have no answer or resolution. Upon asking for the name, number and address of the person handling my claim I was told that they WOULD NOT give me that information. I have exhausted all efforts at a resolution to my claim. I spoke with David or Lonnie I can't remember at this point on Sept. 11 to inform him I would be contacting BBB he asked for one more week which I reluctantly agreed to. We agreed I would get some form of resolution or progress that was made towards that resolution by the end of the business day Sept 18 and if I did not hear from them they understood that my concernes would be filed with BBB I tried to call on the 18th, 19th, and again on the 21rst, no one would answer my calls or return my messages. It is going to cost me $5800 to repair and replace the damaged and missing items. CONSUMER BEWARE!!!! We have moved cross country 8 times in the last 11 yrs and have used packers and movers every time so we know that some light damage may occur and that it comes with the territory but this was a nightmare and still is everyday I look around my new home and see all of the destroyed items laying around. I keep these items incase I am forced to contact a lawyer.

My husband and I shopped around because it was going to be a big move for us from CA to Virginia and our first as a married couple. We wanted a good deal with a good way to take our stuff without driving a moving truck ourselves. We did there only quote and surprise that they quoted us only at 1,200! I called them up and talked to the nicest lady, viriginia, and she assured me this is a great choice and it would be a easy smooth move. We put down our deposite of 500. and got the coupon for a free months rent to store our stuff . Our issue was we didn't have a place to move in and planned on staying with family friends until we got a great apartment in a safe place. They called the day before to pick up our stuff and explained everything to me. When He got there the next day, he brought along his younger stoned friend (who did drop our boxes on the dolly). When they first looked at all our stuff packed from our 1 bdrm place they said, ya this should fit in the 350 space they quoted you on, no problem. After loading it all up he said oh, it's 450. (they did pack it in very well though, no empty spaces!) That was going to be another $600.!!!!! So we planned on paying 300 that day, but had to hand over 600! Then he informed me that our stuff will be stored here in CA for free for a month until we had an address to ship to. He also said he knew the truck driver "David" and gave me him number and said just call him when you get an address and he'll load it on the truck. he said he was going to start another drive the end of the following week, so we wanted to find a place within 4 days so our stuff could get on the next batch. We took 5 days to drive our car across the country, stayed with family and friends for 2 days while we looked for an apartment. Found one on the 3 day and signed to move in the next day. I call David a few times and left messages. Then my husband called and talked to him and then he hung up on him and never did reach him again. I then called Legacy Van Lines to give them our address and they said you need to e-mail it to us, and I told him what our mover said and he said he didn't know what he was talking about. I e-mail the address (FRIDAY) thinking it would be load soon. The whole next week whenever I called the guy kept telling me he would call the driver to find out where he was and call me back (he never did once!) A WEEK AND 3 DAYS after giving them my address they told me it's on the truck, on Tuesday I got a call from the driver, Eddie, and he said he was going to be there on Thursday morning or noonish. I was excited our stuff was coming after 3 weeks!! He called wed afternoon to tell me the truck was being serviced and would be later on thursday around 5-7. I called back thursday morning to confirm still and he wanted to know about distance, stairs (stuff in the contract where they want more money) He needed to know how many guys also to help. My aunt and were leaving our apartment around 3pm to get cash out and saw a huge old north america truck with men looking around seeing how they can get in. we waited to see if they were going to call me for 5-10 mins and never did. We waited until 7:30 before Eddie called me again to say he was mins. away. to cut the story short: he charged us another 75 $ to bring the stuff all the way into the apartment because it was farther then 75 from the truck, (no apartment is 75ft from that truck!) I also notice the truck and men were from earlier where Eddie found 2 Mexician helpers across the street to help unloaded. They were there at 3, and did who knows what until 7:30 when he said it would be 3-7. He was nice to give our 5 steps outside and 5 steps stairs inside as our 1 free stairs. duh...it's 5 steps each! Just ask all questions and don't expect them to tell you the truth, and they will charge you more then you even think!!!

Subject: My review of Legacy Van Lines

Quote ID :1079224
Move Origin :Corvallis, OR
Move Destination :Ellicott City, MD
Initial Estimate :$1,280.00

On May 14, 2009, I hired Legacy Van Lines based on their favorable BBB rating. My purpose for hiring movers was so to properly crate my 42" plasma tv. I signed a contract with the crating included, paid a $150, and scheduled pickup for June 14-15, 2009. By Sunday June 14, I left 2 messages. The 15th, they called saying their truck had broken down and they needed one more day. On the 16th when a truck did not arrive, I called again. David told me in a very hostile manner that the truck would not be there until the 17th. He said it was not his company's fault that the truck broke down and it was against company policy to issue discounts. I contacted an insurance agency and bought a full coverage policy for $175. On the 17th, nobody arrived by so I called again. The truck driver told me he would be 6 hours late. I reconfirmed that he had the materials to properly crate the TV. Finally, around 6:30pm the truck, driver, his 8 month pregnant wife, and helper arrived without the key to unlock their trailer. The driver had to borrow a hack saw to cut the lock off. I documented everything with my new camera. Then they began loading my boxes into the truck. I went into my house and found the driver had cut a cardboard box open, bent it over the top of the TV and was wrapping tape around the box. I immediately stopped him. I referred him to the contract about the crating of the TV. He called his boss, whom he addressed as Bubba. I spoke to Bubba who yelled at me that this is how they do it and I shouldn't be telling him how to move things. I hung up with Bubba and asked that my things be taken off the trailer. The driver refused, and stood behind the trailer calling me names while I unloaded my belongings. I went in search of my camera while the movers closed up their truck and drove away. They stole my brand new $260 camera. Throughout the ordeal I lost the $150 deposit, $175 for the insurance policy, and a brand new $260 camera, plus a week's worth of time.

Subject: Durable bunch of guys at Legacy

Move Origin :San Diego, CA
Move Destination :Las Vegas, NV

I’ve moved about 4 or 5 different times in my life and had different movers each time. After using Legacy Van Lines for my move from San Diego, California to Las Vegas, Nevada, I do not want to use another moving company again. They did an awesome job. The guys came well equipped and worked a lot of hours, more than expected because I had a big 3-bedroom house. I will keep you guys in mind without a doubt the next time I move.
