Confiança Van Lines packers are always one step ahead. Our employees receive intensive training and we use only state-of-the-art packing materials. Our goal is to protect your valuable belongings and provide you with a claims-free move. Even though we try to be as protective as possible when packing and loading, it is impossible to totally eliminate the risk of damage. For that reason Confiança Van Lines offers protection plans that will best suit your needs:
Full value protection – this is the most comprehensive plan available for the protection of your goods. Under this option, articles that are lost, damaged or destroyed will be either repaired, replaced with like items, or a cash settlement will be made for the cost of the repair, or for the current market replacement value, whichever is less. Confiança representatives will provide detailed information and deductible options.
The minimum declared value of a shipment with Full Value Protection is $6.00 per pound.
Example of Full Value Protection - for a shipment weighing 5,000 pounds, the minimum declared value would be $ 30,000.00 (5,000 pounds x $ 6.00/pound). The cost for Full Value Protection varies depending on the chosen deductible.
Released value – This is the often called limited liability and is the minimum coverage required by law. It is the most economical protection option available with no additional cost. Under this option, the mover assumes liability for no more than 60 cents per pound, per article. Loss or damage claims are settled based on the pound weight of the article multiplied by 60 cents. If you agree to this option for insurance coverage you will be asked to sign a specific statement in agreement on the bill of lading.
Example of released value - if a 100-pounds TV valued at $1,000.00, get's damaged, your settlement would not exceed $60.00. Obviously you will not replace the TV with this amount of money so think carefully before agreeing to it.
High value articles - this is the option to protect loss or damages of articles of extraordinary value. An article of extraordinary value is any item whose value exceeds $100.00 per pound (excluded jewelry, furs, currency, documents, valuable/negotiable papers, coin or stamp collections, alcoholic beverages, computer programs, software and media). A list and value of every extraordinary value should be specifically indicated prior to packing. If you fail to list all extraordinary value items and/or fail to sign the High Value Inventory sheet, the van line liability for loss of or damage to those items will be limited to no more than $100.00 per pound per article, based upon the actual weight of the article (does not apply to shipments under the "Released Value" option).
These options of liability are not insurance agreements governed by state insurance laws, but instead are authorized under Released Rates Orders of the Surface Transportation Board of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Liability coverage for moving is not the same as insurance policies. Valuation is NOT insurance.
