Subject: Moving Nightmare RIPOFF COMPANY AMEX MOVERS
| | I moved 14 miles away and only had them move 7 items in total. NO BOXES at
all. 2 couches, 2 TV's, washer and Dryer, and a dresser.
They charged me 770.00 in total!
120 gas
75 for each bulky item?!? who doesn't have heavy moving items when they are
moving!?? That is why we hire movers!
So they charged me for 3 of those. so that was 210.00
on top of 65/hr with a min of 2 hours which they changed to 4 when we got to
the destination. The math was not even correct on the paper but since the guys
argued about the price with us their manager then told them to write on the
bottom of the paper flat rate so that made it legal
210 bulk items
120 gas
69 shrink wrap
260 4 hours min.
17 tape.
totaling 676.00 not the $770.00 they said on the sheet with intentional bad
math.
I got screwed and I know there are others out there that have had this company
do this to them as well.
My move date was 3/2/08
I only move 13 miles away. They only carried 7 items and that price is absolutely
ridiculous especially when they quoted me
65/ hr. w/ 2 hour min. and then things all changed when we got to the destination.
They changed the paperwork marked it all up completely.
They are based out of Los
Angeles, CA. I have learned my lesson.
Houston, TX is where I am and my move was inner city.
AMEX MOVERS INC. is a scam company. They do it all the time. Look at the BBB
reports on them. I wish I had before I hired them. I still have nightmares
about this because I was completely helpless and had to pay because they left
with my stuff 2 times that day trying to negotiate or basically rob me blind. |

| | STAY AWAY!!!
Amex movers are a bunch of scammers. When you call their number...they don't
even use their company name, they say "movers." Why? They are no longer
aloud to work in California. However, they can move from California to other
states. Jonathan is a salesperson who will give you all the quotes you want...Matt
is another guy in the office who will say "you know what I am saying" after
every lie. Greg is the manager who tried to make me pay $2700 dollars after I
was quoted in writing $900. The only good reviews on this site are from them
writing it...just stay away from these guys...

Subject: disatisfied customer/poor customer service
| | I decided to go with AMEX Movers because they were reasonable. I was completely
dissatisfied with their service. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business
Bureau in which they already have 84 total complaints and an "F" rating.

Subject: worst moving experience ever
| | Amex Movers gave me a quote of $800.00 to move a one bedroom apt from Oakland, CA. to Los Angeles, CA. They promised next day delivery. They showed up four days late with no explanation, never returning my phone calls. They charged me $1,500 over the estimate for a TOTAL OF $2300. Refusing to unload the truck until I agreed to pay their bogus charges. They claim to be a member of the Better Business Bureau, they are not. In January of 2008 they had 65 complaints made against them. The PUC, which over sees moving companies, is also investigating them. They will use misleading and fraudulent practices to obtain your business. Who ever you use make sure you get all verbal commitments and quotes in writing.

Subject: Stay away from these movers!
| | | Movers quoted price to move 1 bdrm apt. It took them over 2 hours to load their truck. When they arrived at new location the fee was more than they quoted. When refused to pay difference, they locked the truck w/furniture still in side and demanded full cash payment. Stay away from these people! |

| | The movers at Amex Movers were great. They were fast and very knowledgeable in their moving techniques. The 2 movers worked well and hard together. They were very careful with our stuff and made sure nothing got damaged. I have a very heavy marble table which they took extra care of. The best part is that they arrived on time and left on time. There was no dilly dallying or messing around. They went straight to work and did a great job. I think there names are Arthur and Vitale.

| | Amex Movers was the best moving company I have ever dealt with. The movers that were sent to us by Amex Movers moved us from San Diego, CA to Los Angeles, CA. I was so happy once I realized that the movers were dependable and able to move anything I needed. Amex Movers was the first company I went with mainly because I saw that they were going to provide me with free boxes but I got more than free boxes. Amex Movers also provided me with great service by moving all my furniture wrapped in blankets and packing all my boxes. When we arrived to my new location everything was unloaded without any type of damage. Overall Amex Movers was a great moving company to work with and I recommend them to everyone.
