When you move into your new home, there are plenty of rooms and areas that you can decorate and give it a homey feeling. The back yard is the perfect place to start. With a large enough back yard, you can create a great place for you, your kids, and all your friends. A beautiful patio set, a stunning BBQ grill, games, and an exciting playground can all really add a lot to your great outdoors. Follow these tips to creating your ultimate, post-move back yard:

Patio: There are many different types of patio sets out there. There’s wood, wicker, metal, and an endless stream of materials that can make up your patio set. All these materials can give you a nice set, but your preference is up to you. Make sure that you get a complete set:

  • Table
  • Chair
  • Umbrella

An umbrella is extremely useful for keeping the harsh sun shine out of your eyes. It will provide a nice shady area for you to rest and relax in your new back yard. Aside from sun protection, you always need a place to sit outside. When you have a BBQ, when you're playing with your kids, when you have friends over, you always need to have seating options available.

BBQ: For the guys, this may be the most exciting part of having a new back yard. A nice big BBQ grill is the perfect addition to any sporting event, party, or just some fun in the back yard. There are many types of grills that you could purchase. The biggest difference being gas or charcoal. With a gas grill you can cook your food with a lot more control, but with a charcoal grill you can get a different, but delicious taste to your meat. For a large party it may be best to have a nice big gas grill, but for your weekly backyard get-togethers, a charcoal grill would be perfect. In terms of brands, Webber and Char-Broil are two big names, but brands should not be a major concern of yours when buying a grill as long as it can cook your food.

Playground: If you have enough room in your yard, a playground is a great thing to get for your kids. Swings, sand box, monkey bars, slides, and see saws are several of the things you can get for a backyard playground. With something like this out back, there will always be a fun thing for your kids to do outside. Imagine you have guests over and they all have kids. Just send them out back to the playground and enjoy a nice quiet afternoon in your home while the kids are having fun elsewhere.

Games: What good is a backyard if you can’t get active inside of it? With some fun out door games, you can be active outdoors without even leaving your own property. Here are a few outdoor games that you might enjoy:

  • Horse Shoes
  • Bocce Ball
  • Badminton
  • Volleyball
  • Frisbee
  • Tetherball
  • Croquet
  • Broom/Dust pan
  • Mop/Bucket
  • A large trash bag

Now go outside and have some fun!
